ASSEMBLY DISTRICT 47, CA — Today, former Palm Springs Mayor and Councilmember Christy Holstege secured an endorsement from the Asian Pacific American Labor Alliance (APALA) of the Inland Empire, highlighting her growing support within key labor communities. Holstege has garnered substantial labor support for her campaign to represent AD47 with endorsements from 31 diverse unions, including the California Labor Federation, SEIU, UFCW, and UFW, highlighting her strong commitment to workers' rights and economic justice.

APALA, a prominent organization within the Asian Pacific American labor community, has a long-standing history of advocating for worker protections, fair labor practices, and inclusivity in the workforce. Their endorsement is not just a nod to Holstege's policies but also a recognition of her proactive stance on issues affecting diverse communities, particularly in terms of labor rights and economic opportunities. The endorsement from APALA is expected to not only solidify Holstege's standing among labor groups but also enhance her credibility among Asian Pacific American voters—a demographic that continues to grow in political significance.

"I am deeply honored to receive APALA IE’s endorsement,” said Councilmember Holstege. “Our campaign is built on the promise of fairness, dignity, and equality for all workers, and it's heartening to see that our message resonates with such a pivotal organization within the labor community. This endorsement fuels our commitment to champion the rights of every worker in our community, particularly those from underrepresented groups."

The closely watched seat remains a top pickup priority for California Assembly Democrats after Holstege lost to her GOP opponent by just 85 votes in 2022, in one of the closest races in California legislative history. Incumbent Republican Assemblymember Greg Wallis currently holds one of the most endangered seats in Sacramento. The district boasts a solid 6.4% Democratic voter registration advantage, a figure that's projected to swell to an imposing 10-12% by the time November 2024 rolls around.

Christy’s campaign continues to out-raise and out-work her Republican opponent, garnering high-profile endorsements and significant local grassroots support. As the leading Democratic candidate, she has secured her place on the consent calendar to receive the official endorsement of the California Democratic Party in November. Her remarkable achievement of receiving 100% of the votes from the region's delegates underscores the overwhelming and wide-ranging local support for her candidacy.
