The campaign continues adding major endorsements headed into the March primary
ASSEMBLY DISTRICT 47, CA —
The Christy Holstege for State Assembly campaign is proud to announce the endorsement of AFSCME Council 57. The major Southern California labor player is comprised of 26 local unions representing 35,000 members throughout Northern California and the Central Valley.
"I am honored to be endorsed and trusted by the backbone of our community – the labor unions and hardworking individuals who keep our state running,"
said Christy Holstege. "Our campaign is fueled by the belief that everyone deserves an opportunity to thrive. Let's champion the protection of workers, tackle the growing cost of living, and foster sustainable economic development that uplifts both working families and local businesses.”
Established in 1963, AFSCME Council 57 was formed as a member-driven labor organization dedicated to empowering and securing dignity and respect for all workers. The group represents workers in schools and community colleges, transit agencies, public works and services, clinics and hospitals, and water and wastewater facilities.
Christy Holstege, a civil rights attorney, community leader, and former Mayor of Palm Springs, has consistently championed policies prioritizing working families' well-being. As Mayor, Holstege enacted robust worker protections, allocated millions for small business pandemic relief, and implemented hero pay for essential workers.
The announcement comes on the heels of endorsements from Governor Gavin Newsom, Assembly Speaker Robert Rivas, and the California Democratic Party. The closely watched seat remains a top pickup priority for California Assembly Democrats after Holstege lost to her GOP opponent by just 85 votes in 2022, in one of the closest races in California legislative history. Incumbent Republican Assemblymember Greg Wallis currently holds one of the most endangered seats in Sacramento. Christy’s campaign continues to out-raise and out-work her Republican opponent, garnering high-profile endorsements and significant local grassroots support.
