ASSEMBLY DISTRICT 47, CA — In a significant boost for Christy Holstege’s campaign for Assembly District 47, Assemblymember Sabrina Cervantes has officially announced her endorsement. Cervantes, a dedicated public servant representing the 58th Assembly District and Chair of the California Latino Legislative Caucus, brings a formidable reputation for legislative success and community advocacy to Holstege's campaign. A lifelong Riverside County resident and the first openly LGBTQ+ Latina to represent Western Riverside County, Cervantes has been a vocal advocate for inclusive policies and community empowerment.
"I am honored to receive Assemblymember Cervantes’ endorsement," said Christy Holstege. "As mothers of young children and members of the LGBTQ+ community, we not only share personal experiences but also a vision for policies that uplift all working families. I am ready to go to Sacramento and pass legislation that ensures every family in California has the resources and opportunities they need to succeed, continuing our progress towards a state that truly fosters economic growth for everyone.”
During her tenure in the State Legislature, Cervantes has not only secured over $650 million in state funding for vital infrastructure and educational programs but has also been at the forefront of advocating for the Inland Empire’s most pressing needs. As Chair of the State Assembly’s Committee on Jobs, Economic Development, and the Economy, she played a pivotal role in securing funding to open a new trade school in Jurupa Valley, which offers in-demand job skills training. Her legislative accomplishments include authoring 42 bills that have been signed into law, which have significantly aided veterans, seniors, small businesses, and local schools. Cervantes’ comprehensive approach to governance and her endorsement emphasize a shared vision with Holstege, focusing on nurturing thriving communities where families and businesses can prosper.
The closely watched seat remains a top pickup priority for California Assembly Democrats. Incumbent Republican Assemblymember Greg Wallis currently holds one of the most endangered seats in Sacramento. The district boasts a solid 6.4% Democratic voter registration advantage, a figure that's projected to swell to an imposing 10-12% by the time November 2024 rolls around.
