ASSEMBLY DISTRICT 47, CA —
Today, the Christy Holstege campaign is proud to announce the endorsement of California State Senator and Senate President pro Tempore Emeritus Toni Atkins for Assembly District 47. The endorsement is an important nod from one of the state's most influential political figures and represents the importance of the seat for Democrats in November.
"Christy Holstege stands out for her ability to unite people from different political backgrounds and get things done,”
said Senate President pro Tempore Emeritus Toni Atkins.
"Her practical approach is exactly what Sacramento needs to tackle the affordability crisis and rising housing costs in our communities. I'm confident that she'll be a strong champion for her constituents and that her commitment to bipartisan efforts will bring about real progress in the State Assembly."
Christy Holstege, a dedicated public servant and advocate, has spent her career fighting for the rights and well-being of all Californians. From her early days interning at Planned Parenthood Mar Monte to founding the Stanford Law Students for Reproductive Justice, Christy has consistently championed reproductive rights and social justice. As a legal aid clinic founder in Coachella Valley, she has provided crucial support to survivors of domestic violence and advocated for reproductive justice.
“I am honored to have the endorsement of Senator Toni Atkins,” said Christy Holstege. “Her leadership and dedication to achieving real results for the people of California has paved the way for so many, and I am inspired by her work. With her support, I am more determined than ever to fight for the people of Assembly District 47 and ensure that our voices are heard in Sacramento.”
The announcement follows up endorsements from Governor Gavin Newsom and Assembly Speaker Rick Rivas – two of the most influential political voices in California. The closely watched seat remains a top pickup priority for California Assembly Democrats after Holstege lost to her GOP opponent by just 85 votes in 2022, in one of the closest races in California legislative history. Incumbent Republican Assemblymember Greg Wallis currently holds one of the most endangered seats in Sacramento. The district boasts a solid 6.4% Democratic voter registration advantage, a figure that's projected to swell to an imposing 10-12% by the November 2024 General Election.
