ASSEMBLY DISTRICT 47, CA — Christy Holstege's campaign for State Assembly received a significant boost today with the endorsement of Assemblymember Rick Chavez-Zbur, the Chair of the Assembly Democratic Caucus. This endorsement highlights the importance of Holstege's campaign, as Zbur is a key player within the Speaker's team.

"I am honored to receive the endorsement of Assemblymember Rick Chavez-Zbur," said Christy Holstege. "Together, we are committed to addressing public safety and the fentanyl crisis, tackling the rising cost of living in our state, and building an economy that benefits all working people. Our shared vision and priorities will drive meaningful progress for our communities."

Before his tenure in the Assembly, Zbur served as the Executive Director of Equality California, the nation's largest statewide LGBTQ+ civil rights organization. In this role, he advanced civil rights and social justice for diverse communities, including communities of color, communities of faith, immigrants, women, and people living with HIV.

Christy continues to dominate the endorsement race with an unparalleled coalition of support from the highest echelons of California's political and advocacy spheres– featuring heavyweights like Governor Gavin Newsom, Attorney General Rob Bonta, Assembly Speaker Robert Rivas, and Planned Parenthood. This formidable backing from the state's most trusted figures is amplified by the support of over 75 state and local leaders and more than fifty labor unions, including grassroots giants such as the California Teachers Association, CAL-FIRE, and the California Labor Federation.

The closely watched seat remains a top pickup priority for California Assembly Democrats after Holstege lost to her GOP opponent by just 85 votes in 2022, in one of the closest races in California legislative history. Incumbent Republican Assemblymember Greg Wallis currently holds one of the most endangered seats in Sacramento. The district boasts a solid 6.4% Democratic voter registration advantage, a figure that's projected to swell to an imposing 10-12% by the time November 2024 rolls around.
