Holstege Secures Support from Top Education Leaders and Key Unions, Setting the Stage for a Resounding Victory in November

ASSEMBLY DISTRICT 47, CA — Christy Holstege, the leading candidate for Assembly District 47, is proud to announce that the California Faculty Association (CFA) has endorsed her in her bid for the State Assembly. The CFA represents over 29,000 professors, lecturers, librarians, counselors, and coaches who teach and provide services to the California State University (CSU) system’s 485,000 students.

"Receiving the endorsement of the California Faculty Association is a powerful affirmation of our shared commitment to providing every student in California with the opportunity to reach their full potential through quality higher education,”
said Christy Holstege. “Supporting our faculty is critical to this mission, as our educators are the cornerstone of academic excellence, and by empowering them, we empower our students to succeed. I will work tirelessly in Sacramento to ensure that our universities have the resources and support needed to provide a world-class education at every campus, in every community."

Holstege’s dedication to public education is deeply rooted in her personal and professional background. Growing up as the daughter of a public school teacher and administrator who spent 35 years in education, Holstege has seen firsthand the challenges and rewards of teaching. Her first volunteer position was at a Head Start program in Sacramento, and she has continued to support educational initiatives throughout her career. Holstege attended UC Santa Barbara, where she was actively involved in advocating for better working conditions for campus employees. Her commitment to education is unwavering, and she is determined to bring that passion to the State Assembly.

Further bolstering her educational bone fides includes endorsements from State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond, California Federation of Teachers (CFT), California Teachers Association (CTA), and California School Employees Association (CSEA), cements Holstege's reputation as the education candidate and positions her campaign to decisively beat the GOP in November.

The closely watched seat remains a top pickup priority for California Assembly Democrats. Incumbent Republican Assemblymember Greg Wallis currently holds one of the most endangered seats in Sacramento. The district boasts a solid 6.4% Democratic voter registration advantage, a figure that's projected to swell to an imposing 10-12% by the time November 2024 rolls around.
