ASSEMBLY DISTRICT 47, CA — Christy Holstege has earned the endorsement of SEIU Local 121RN, a crucial support as she vies for the highly competitive Assembly District 47 seat. This endorsement underscores Christy’s dedication to championing healthcare professionals and ensuring the highest standards of patient care and safety. In a race that’s shaping up to be a nail-biter, this backing from a powerful union amplifies Christy's commitment to healthcare advocacy.

“I am deeply honored to receive the endorsement of SEIU Local 121RN,” said Christy Holstege. “I understand the critical importance of affordable, quality healthcare and am committed to fighting alongside our nurses to ensure they have the staffing, resources, and common-sense workplace protections needed to do their jobs effectively. Together, we will work to expertly care for patients and uphold the highest patient safety standards.”

SEIU Local 121RN is a powerful voice for patient, nurse, and healthcare professional safety in California. The union advocates for safe staffing levels, adequate equipment and resources, workplace violence protections, and other critical issues affecting hospital safety through legislation, contract negotiations, patient advocacy, and community partnerships. Headquartered in Pasadena, SEIU Local 121RN represents over 9,000 registered nurses and other healthcare professionals, with regional offices in Los Angeles County, Ventura County, and the Inland Empire.

As a Councilmember, Christy Holstege has spearheaded the allocation of millions of dollars to expand access to regional healthcare services and address social determinants of health. She has funded nearly $4 million to local healthcare providers, worked to address medical care and food deserts, and advocated for equity in healthcare access and outcomes. Christy has also publicly supported initiatives to address physician shortages, healthcare workforce development programs, and the expansion of healthcare education, including the CSU San Bernardino/Palm Desert program. Her leadership and advocacy efforts have consistently focused on improving healthcare services across Riverside and San Bernardino counties.

The closely watched seat remains a top pickup priority for California Assembly Democrats after Holstege lost to her GOP opponent by just 85 votes in 2022, in one of the closest races in California legislative history. Incumbent Republican Assemblymember Greg Wallis currently holds one of the most endangered seats in Sacramento. The district boasts a solid 6.4% Democratic voter registration advantage, a figure that's projected to swell to an imposing 10-12% by the time November 2024 rolls around.
