ASSEMBLY DISTRICT 47, CA — Christy Holstege, the Democratic candidate for Assembly District 47, has reported a total fundraising amount of nearly $1.3 million to date, with $734,000 raised in the first half of 2024. Over 2/3 of her donations came from small dollar donors— demonstrating the grassroots excitement around Christy’s candidacy and her ability to connect with regular voters looking for change.
“I am incredibly grateful for the outpouring of support from our community,” said Christy Holstege.
“Our campaign is powered by people who believe in a future where everyone has access to quality healthcare, affordable housing, and good-paying jobs. We are on the cusp of making history in AD47, I am honored to be on the front lines of bringing the change and representation that our district deserves.”
Throughout the campaign Holstege has consistently outpaced incumbent Republican Assemblymember Greg Wallis in the fundraising race. Wallis, who secured a narrow lead in the March 2024 primary with less than half of the electorate and only a 2-percentage point advantage over Holstege, is in a precarious position. His modest performance, despite incumbency advantages and low turnout, highlights his vulnerability. Additionally, Christy demonstrated significant strength in Riverside County in the primary, the district's most populous area and a crucial battleground for votes. With 77% of the district's voters residing in Riverside County, her commanding lead in this region highlights her strong appeal.
“Christy’s impressive fundraising speaks to her dedication and the trust she has earned from the community,” said campaign manager Emma Trunkle. “Her ability to connect with voters and address the issues that matter most to them is what this campaign is all about. Our financial momentum positions us strongly as we move closer to November.”
Today’s announcement comes on the heels of endorsements from Governor Gavin Newsom, Assembly Speaker Robert Rivas, and the California Democratic Party. The closely watched seat remains a top pickup priority for California Assembly Democrats as incumbent Republican Assemblymember Greg Wallis currently holds one of the most endangered seats in Sacramento.
